Shenzhen Senior Technology Material's (SHE:300568) Shanghai unit will work with Japan-based Daiso Chemical to produce materials for semi-solid battery separators, according to a Wednesday filing with the Shenzhen Stock Exchange.
Senior will become Daiso Chemical's exclusive partner for the project, and will process polymer raw materials from Daiso Chemical into separators.
Semi-solid batteries are used for electric cars and laptops, and have greater energy density and better safety compared with liquid-state batteries, according to a Yicai Global report Wednesday.
Shares fell 5% during Thursday's trading.
