Market Chatter: BYD's Hungary Facility to Start Operations in H2 2025, Prime Minister's Office Says

BYD's (HKG:1211, SHE:002594) car factory in Hungary, which is still under construction, is forecast to start production in the second half of 2025, Reuters reported Thursday, citing Prime Minister Viktor Orban's chief of staff.

The factory will be located in Szeged, in the southern part of the country, Reuters said.

Meanwhile, Orban's administration also plans to bring Chinese electric vehicle and battery manufacturers to his country, the report said.

Contemporary Amperex Technology or CATL (SHE:300750) is also establishing a 7.3 billion euro factory in Debrecen, the report said.
