Health care stocks were declining Thursday afternoon, with the NYSE Health Care Index down 0.8% and the Health Care Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLV) shedding 0.9%. The iShares Biotechnology ETF (IBB) fell 1.1%.
In corporate news, AC Immune (ACIU) shares surged nearly 20% after the company said a phase 2 trial of its potential early Parkinson's disease treatment yielded "positive" interim safety and immunogenicity results.
Immutep (IMMP) shares jumped 10%. The company reported positive data from a phase 1 trial assessing eftilagimod alpha plus Keytruda and chemotherapy to treat metastatic non-squamous non-small cell lung cancer.
Oscar Health (OSCR) shares soared 18% after Joshua Kushner, its director, co-founder and vice chairman, bought about 1.1 million shares.
