CenterPoint Energy (CNP) said Thursday it has completed phase one of the Greater Houston Resiliency Initiative, which consisted of 42 critical initial actions and commitments it made in the aftermath of Hurricane Beryl.
All of the actions and commitments, which aim to immediately strengthen the electric system and enhance storm response, have been completed ahead of schedule, the company said.
The initial phase included the installation of more than 1,100 stronger and more storm-resilient poles and over 300 automated devices to cut sustained outages, CenterPoint said.
The company said it is now fully focused on completing phase two of the initiative, which includes improving customer and public communications and developing stronger emergency response and community collaborations.
