Ryanair will reimburse customers who incurred extra costs while checking in to their flights at the airport, Italy's competition authority said.

The authority said that the Irish low-cost airline has committed to disburse around at least 1.5 million euros ($1.6 million) to customers who incurred check-in related costs between 2021 and 2023.

The authority said that the airline's online check-in conditions could have been misleading because they didn't sufficiently inform customers about the period of availability of the service and the possible increase in costs in the event consumers didn't check-in online.

It added Thursday that Ryanair would be paying back the cost of check-in carried out at the airport to customers who complained, plus additional compensation to at least 100,000 customers in total.
