Singapore Shares Add Gains; UOB and OCBC Rise Over 1%; NIO Drops 2%

Singapore shares added gains on Thursday despite opening the session lower, after global equities ended mixed overnight.

The Straits Times Index fluctuated between 3,699.50 and 3,738.16 during the day. It ended the session at 3,738.16, up 17.82 points or 0.48% from Wednesday's close.

In company news, First Resources' (SGX:EB5) underlying net profit rose 19% to $61.0 million in the third quarter, from $51.1 million in the year-ago period, sending the company's shares up over 1% at market close.

StarHub (SGX:CC3) closed nearly 1% higher on Thursday, as it posted a net profit attributable to shareholders of SG$40.4 million in the third quarter, an increase of 11.1% from SG$36.4 million a year ago.

Emperador's (SGX:EMI, PSE:EMI) Singapore-listed shares closed flat on Thursday, as the brandy and whisky conglomerate's net income attributable to owners tumbled to 981 million Philippines pesos in the third quarter of the year, from 2.05 billion pesos a year ago, according to a Thursday bourse filing.
