Apple Home Appliance Would Depend on Intelligence Advancements -- Market Talk

Dow Jones00:09

1109 ET - Apple delving into a home appliance makes sense for the company given advancements in technology and could even surpass Amazon and Meta Platforms' smart devices, says Melius Research's Ben Reitzes and Jack Adair in a research note. Citing a report from Bloomberg on the unconfirmed product, the analysts note that more important than the iPhone maker increasing sales among its existing products is whether Apple Intelligence can creep into more devices and encourage consumers to update their iPhones. "It seems that any Apple home appliance would need an iPhone to make it more useful in terms of 'handing off' conversations and other tasks," the analysts say. "The key here is whether Apple can expand the usefulness of the platform around Apple Intelligence - and assume the lead in AI. My long-term bet is on Cupertino to get it right."
