1413 ET - Five Below could see some potential disruption as Amazon focuses more on everyday essentials at low price points, say analysts at Mizuho in a research note. Amazon Haul, a new section that Amazon has added to its app and website, is focused on items that cost $20 or less. Mizuho notes that its initial search of Amazon Haul revealed a product lineup that seemed geared more towards older customers with somewhat limited overlap to the core kids and teen-focused Five Below. "We particularly noted no search results for "squishmallows" and very limited results for 'toys'." The discount retailer has largely been protected from digital disruption but Amazon pushing towards a more regional fulfillment model could change this, the analysts say.
