HSBC (HKG:0005) entered into a three-party deal in a bid to lower travel-related carbon emissions, South China Morning Post reported Tuesday.
The bank agreed to purchase 3,400 tons of sustainable aviation fuel from biofuel maker EcoCeres, which will be used in flights operated by flagship carrier Cathay Pacific (HKG:0293) that depart from Hong Kong International Airport, the report said.
The partnership will eliminate about 11,800 tons of carbon emissions, the news outlet reported, citing Luanne Lim, CEO of HSBC's Hong Kong operation.
