Singapore Shares Rise 0.4%, Tracking Broad Gains in U.S. Equity Markets

Singapore's FTSE Straits Times Index rises 0.4% to 3747.41, tracking broad overnight gains in U.S. markets. Investors are gauging the possible economic impacts of expected policy shifts from the incoming Trump administration, Commerzbank Research analysts say in a research report. Investors' focus will likely shift to upcoming earnings of a bellwether AI chipmaker and key retailers in the U.S., the analysts add. Among the best performers on the benchmark index, Yangzijiang Shipbuilding rises 3.6%, SATS Ltd. adds 2.7%, and Singapore Technologies Engineering is 2.7% higher.
