GE Healthcare Technologies (GEHC) said Monday that a two-phase pilot trial of its Portrait Mobile monitoring wireless and wearable device showed that 82% of the alarms were "informative or useful" in optimizing care for post-surgery patients while minimizing alarm fatigue.
The company said there were less than three alarms per patient per day and these alerts prompted clinical interventions that reduced vital sign abnormalities by about 25%.
The most common nursing intervention was administering oxygen therapy or increasing oxygen concentration for a patient, the company added.
