BUZZ-Health insurers rise after Trump selects Dr. Mehmet Oz to run Medicare and Medicaid

** Shares of health insurers rise between 1.25% and 3.29%

** U.S. President-elect Donald Trump on Tuesday said he had picked TV personality and surgeon Dr. Mehmet Oz to serve as administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services

** CMS runs Medicare, the federal health insurance program for people aged 65 or older and the disabled and also oversees Medicaid, the state-based health insurance program for low-income people, which is jointly funded by states and the federal government

** Oz promoted Medicare Advantage on his syndicated daytime television talk show, which was aired between 2009 and 2022 and was a proponent of expanding Medicare Advantage plans

** Shares of UnitedHealth UNH.N rise 2.5% to $591.39, Humana HUM.N gain 3.29% to $286.92, CVS Health CVS.N up 2.16% at $56.98

** Molina Healthcare MOH.N rise 2.2% to $288.77 while Centene CNC.N up 1.25% at $58.53

** His stance on expanded Medicare coverage could be a positive for the industry in the long run - BMO Capital Markets

** YTD, UNH up ~12%, MOH down ~21%, CNC down ~22%, CVS down ~28% and HUM down ~38%,
