TECH, REAL ESTATE LEAD STOXX 600 HIGHER

Europe's healthcare and real estate sectors are leading the pan-continental STOXX 600 .STOXX higher on Friday, nudging the index into positive territory for the week.

The STOXX 600 is last up 0.7% on the day, taking the weekly rise to 0.5%. It's heading for its first weekly gain in five weeks.

The CAC .FCHI and DAX .GDAXI are both also trading higher, despite an accelerating downturn in business activity in the euro zone's two largest economies.

Britain's FTSE 100 .FTSE is also up 0.7% and heading for a gain of almost 1.8% this week, even though data on Friday showed retail sales dived before the new government's first budget.

In corporate news, Games Workshop GAW.L is topping the STOXX 600, trading at a record high on upbeat forecast for the half year.

Thales TCFP.PA is at the bottom of the index after British and French authorities said they were investigating suspected bribery and corruption at the French defence and aviation firm.
