The London-based tobacco giant gained about 5.2% in the preceding seven sessions. Overall, the stock has gained over 26% so far this year, compared to over 24% rise of the broader S&P 500 Index. Turning to the Wall Street community, one analyst gave BTI a Buy, while two recommended the stock as a Hold. One analyst has given the stock a Strong Sell recommendation. However, most of the analysts are bullish about the stock. Looking at Seeking Alpha's Quant Rating, BTI has a Strong Buy rating with a score of 4.84 out of 5. The company received A+ for profitability, valuation and revisions, while the score has been dragged down by a C in growth prospect. Seeking Alpha analysts Roberts Berzins said BTI managed to grow the bottom line despite several major headwinds in 1H 2024 from unfavorable inventory levels and rising borrowing costs to more financially constrained consumers and increasing illegal tobacco share. “BTI, with already defensive balance sheet, steadily growing business, which becomes more and more focused on new categories and lower base rates offers, in my view, one of the best dividend plays in the common equity space,” Berzins added.
