Market Chatter: FAA's Whitaker to Meet With Boeing CEO in Seattle

MT Newswires Live03:05

The head of the Federal Aviation Administration plans to meet with Boeing's (BA) Chief Executive Kelly Ortberg during a visit to the company's Seattle offices, Reuters reported Thursday.

The meeting between Ortberg and the FAA's Michael Whitaker comes as the regulator enhances its oversight of the planemaker as it prepares to resume 737 MAX production following the end of a strike by 33,000 of its workers.

"We are working closely with Boeing to make sure the safety management system is driving their actions during" the restart of production, Whitaker was quoted as saying by Reuters.

Boeing did not immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
