0927 ET - The fall in jobless claims to the lowest level since April is a positive sign for the labor market, Nancy Vanden Houten of Oxford Economics writes. "Seasonal factors will make the weekly data volatile, so we won't read much into one week's change in claims. Still, after being boosted by the Boeing strike and Hurricanes Helene and Milton, claims have returned to a level consistent with limited layoffs," Vanden Houten writes. Continued claims are still running high, but some of recent increase may still be attributed to the aftereffects of the Boeing strike, hurricanes Helene and Milton, and auto-industry layoffs in the Midwest.
