Williams-Sonoma Considers All Options as Specter of Tariffs Looms -- Market Talk

Dow Jones11-21 02:14

1314 ET - Williams-Sonoma is prepared to reduce its exposure to China if tariffs increase further. Executives at the specialty retailer say they've mapped out a category by category plan to reduce reliance on China depending on the final outcome. "Everything is on the table," they add. Executives also note that China-sourced goods make up about 25% of their mix compared to 50% over the last few years. President-elect Trump has suggested 60% duties on imports from China, among other proposals. Executives add that they'll potentially move some things to other countries and may in 2025 frontload some goods. "I'm sure the vendors will pay some and there may be some that the customers absorb as well," they add. Shares surge 29% to $176.97, on pace for a new all-time high.
