Consumer stocks rose in Monday's pre-bell hours as the Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLP) was 0.4% higher and the Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLY) was up 1.1% recently.
Bath & Body Works (BBWI) shares advanced more than 20% after the company reported higher fiscal Q3 adjusted earnings and net sales. The company also lifted its fiscal 2024 guidance for adjusted earnings per share and net sales.
Macy's (M) shares were over 1% lower after the company said a former employee attempted to hide about $132 million to $154 million in delivery expenses from fiscal Q4 2021 through the most recent quarter ended Nov. 2. The company said it is delaying its earnings release and conference until as late as Dec. 11 for an independent audit of the discrepancies.
Super Hi International Holding (HDL) shares were up 0.4% after the company reported higher Q3 earnings and revenue.
