US benchmark equity indexes were higher ahead of Monday's close, aided by President-elect Donald Trump's planned nomination of Scott Bessent as Treasury secretary.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 0.9% at 44,695.5, while the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq Composite rose 0.2% each to 5,983.1 and 19,040.4, respectively. Among sectors, consumer discretionary saw the biggest gain, while energy, technology, and utilities were declining.
Trump announced Bessent's nomination, a familiar Wall Street figure, in a social media post Friday.
The US 10-year yield was down 13.9 basis points to 4.27%, while the two-year rate dropped 9.8 basis points to 4.27%.
Zoom Video Communications (ZM) and Agilent Technologies (A) are among the companies scheduled to report their latest quarterly financial results after the closing bell.
West Texas Intermediate crude oil fell 3.1% to $69.02 a barrel.
