China Telecom (HKG:0728, SHA:601728) and Huawei signed a memorandum of understanding with MTN South Africa, Reuters reported.
The partnership is expected to drive new business opportunities for the South African mobile operator and provide enhanced technology, including the internet of things, on the African continent, according to the report.
Tumi Sekhukhune-Chamayou, chief enterprise business officer at MTN South Africa, said the network service improvements could offer new possibilities in smart mining and industrial applications, Reuters wrote.
