Constellation Would Need 12% Beer Price Hike to Pay for Trump's Tariffs -- Market Talk

Dow Jones11-27

1206 GMT - Constellation Brands would have to raise beer prices by 12% to fully offset a 25% increase in cost of goods sold from the tariffs Donald Trump has threatened to impose on Mexican imports, Roth MKM analysts Bill Kirk and Nick Anderson say in a research note. That drastic step might not be needed as the threats might just be a tactic to kick off tariff negotiations, the analysts say. There is also the possibility that Constellation could obtain an exemption, as the federal government effectively requires Constellation to produce its brands in Mexico as part of a 2013 antitrust settlement that allowed the company to take control of the brands, the analysts say.
