Meta Platforms' (META) Threads has been adding millions of new users in recent weeks as many internet denizens look for alternatives to X/Twitter since the US elections, multiple media outlets reported Tuesday.
Threads has added around 35 million new users during November, including about 20 million people starting accounts on the microblogging platform over the past 10 days, Nexstar's (NXST) the Hill reported, citing a company spokesperson.
Overall, Threads had almost 275 million users accessing their accounts at least once a month, with the social media platform adding "more than 1 million daily sign-ups," the spokesperson said, according to Axios. That was up from around 175 million monthly activities at mid-year as the Instagram offshoot was celebrating its first year in operation.
Other X/Twitter alternatives like BlueSky and Mastodon also have reported large increases in the number of users, with some former Twitter microbloggers and advertisers migrating since Elon Musk acquired the company.
