Huawei Technologies launched a new high-end smartphone series, Mate 70, Reuters reported Tuesday.
The release comes as the US is expected to soon add up to 200 Chinese chip companies to a trade blacklist, according to the report.
Mate 70 prices will start at 5,499 yuan each, Reuters wrote. The new model will use Huawei's Kirin 9100 chipset made by Hong Kong-listed chipmaker Semiconductor Manufacturing International (HKG:0981).
Mate 70 is the first major commercial rollout of the HarmonyOS NEXT, which marked the technology company's push for software independence since its access to Google services was cut in 2019.
