Chinese electric vehicle startup Leapmotor and Myanmar-based car dealership NPK Motor agreed to assemble knocked-down models in Myanmar, Yicai reported Thursday.
The collaboration will involve the import of EV components, which will then be assembled locally. This approach is expected to reduce overall costs and make EVs more affordable for Myanmar consumers, the report said, citing a WeChat post.
The knocked-down model allows parts to be imported and then assembled at the destination. Myanmar's government is also encouraging EVs in the country, Yicai said.
