Market Chatter: Disgruntled Evergrande Investors Seek Updates on Case from Chinese Government

MT Newswires Live11-29

China Evergrande (HKG:3333) investors who lost their money following the liquidation of the beleaguered property company are making a joint call to authorities to seek updates on the proceedings, Reuters reported, citing people familiar with the initiative.

Small groups of investors went to three government offices in Shenzhen to seek updates on Evergrande's case, the report said, citing the sources.

The investors said they are hoping their actions will not be interpreted as unlawful public protest, the report said.

The subtle protests come as China is now on its toes for social unrest following the stress brought about by a declining economy, the report said.
