Shimmick (SHIM) shares surged nearly 43% in after-hours activity Monday after disclosing a $45.4 million contract award to complete improvements and seismic retrofitting for the Murray Street Bridge in Santa Cruz, California.
The upcoming project will include new or extended pilings, columns and caps, as well as expanded bike lanes and a new pedestrian sidewalk along the bridge's south side. Shimmick will also replace existing concrete barriers on the structure with see-through barrier rails, improving harbor and ocean views while maintaining safety, the company said.
