Freedom Mobile Looks to Maintain Price Leadership in Mobile Market -- Market Talk

Dow Jones12-10

1042 ET - Freedom Mobile's low prices continue to put pressure on the entire Canadian telecom industry. In a Scotiabank report, Maher Yaghi says the Quebecor's mobile discount banner has reduced its 50 gigabyte plan to C$30, down C$5. "If confirmed, is the first reduction that Freedom has implemented since September of last year and the lowest price they have offered the 50GB plan since purchasing the company in 2023," the analyst says. Currently, the discount banners of the big telecoms are offering the 50/60GB for C$39, which creates a difference of C$9. "We see the new C$30 pricing from Freedom as a reaction to the incumbents, who lowered their prices a few weeks ago from the C$44-49/month... demonstrating that Freedom wants to maintain price leadership in the market," he says.
