Ballard Power Systems (BLDP) said Monday it signed a multiyear deal with Stadler US to supply 8 megawatts of FCmove-HD+ fuel cell engines for trains for the California Department of Transportation, or Caltrans.
The order supports the department's acquisition of 10 FLIRT H2 passenger trains, with an option for another 19 trains, Ballard Power said.
The company's shares were up more than 12% in recent trading.
