0958 ET - Following November's PPI data, the Fed is "even more likely" to cut interest rates by 25 basis points next week, Capital Economics' Paul Ashworth writes. The producer price index for final demand accelerated to 0.4% from 0.3%. But Ashworth says that components that feed into the Fed's preferred PCE index "were universally weak." Together with yesterday's CPI data, PPI points to "a muted 0.3% m/m increase in the core PCE index," Ashworth says. He estimates that the three-month annualised rate of core PCE inflation fell to 2.4% in November from 3%. The annual core rate "was probably unchanged at 2.8%, but it will plummet" in 1Q, he says.
