Viasat (VSAT) said Wednesday it demonstrated direct-to-device satellite connectivity in the United Arab Emirates, following similar demonstrations in India and Saudi Arabia earlier in this quarter.
The company said the tests involved a commercial Android smartphone capable of non-terrestrial network connectivity, using an over-the-top messaging app.
Messages were transmitted via two of Viasat's L-band satellites orbiting above Asia, Viasat added.
