VinFast Auto (VFS) plans to build a second production plant in Vietnam that will double its output capacity to meet increased demand for its small and mid-sized models, Reuters reported Sunday, citing the company.
The new facility is expected to produce 300,000 units per year during its initial phase, the same capacity as its existing plant in Haiphong, according to the report.
The new factory in the central Ha Tinh province will primarily produce VF 3 and VF 5 models for both domestic sales and export, with operations set to start in July next year, according to a company statement cited by Reuters.
VinFast did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment on the matter.
