PBF Energy on Thursday told California environmental regulators it plans to begin flaring Friday related to "start-up/shutdown" work at its 166,200 b/d Torrance, Calif. refinery near Los Angeles.
In a filing with the South Coast Air Quality Management District, the company said the flaring is expected to end by Dec. 21.
A PBF company spokesperson could not be reached for comment by time of publication.
PBF in an earlier filing with SCAQMD said the facility recently completed "planned maintenance" at the Torrance plant that began on Nov. 27 and ended on Monday.
Details surrounding the work associated with the planned flaring event were not disclosed.
