1638 GMT - A potential merger with Honda Motor seems compelling for Nissan Motor given the challenges it is confronting in both China and the U.S., AlphaValue's Adrien Brasey says. News that the two Japanese carmakers are exploring a merger isn't surprising in light of Nissan's current performance, Brasey says. Nissan is grappling with weak demand in China and the U.S., the analyst says. Both companies have similar corporate cultures and Japanese automakers have focused on hybrid and hydrogen vehicles, but lagged in the electric-vehicle market, he says. This means a potential merger would make sense, Brasey says. (adria.calatayud@wsj.com)
