Market Chatter: Barclays Set to Increase Annual Bonuses

Barclays (BCS) is expected to boost annual bonuses by as much as 20%, following a strong year for its traders and investment bankers, Bloomberg reported Wednesday, citing people familiar with the matter.

A 5% to 10% increase in annual awards is expected for those in Barclays' trading unit, while bonuses for bankers in debt and equity capital markets could rise by 10% to 20%, the report said.

Final decisions on the bonus pool are still being made, the report added.

A Barclays spokeswoman declined to comment, according to the report.

Barclays did not immediately reply to MT Newswires' request for comment.
