Renault Is Open to Nissan-Honda Merger Talks, Bloomberg Says, Citing Sources

--French carmaker Renault, Nissan Motor's biggest shareholder, is open to merger talks between its Japanese partner and Honda Motor, Bloomberg reports, citing unnamed sources.

--Renault will evaluate any offer made to Nissan with a view to protect its own interests, but is open in principle to a deal that would strengthen the Japanese company, according to Bloomberg.

--A spokesperson for Renault declined to comment about the merger talks when approached by Dow Jones Newswires.
