SoftBank Group to Gain 527.6 Billion Yen From Sale of Investment Securities

MT Newswires Live12-20 14:59

SoftBank (TYO:9434) expects to record a 527.6 billion yen gain as extraordinary income in its non-consolidated financial results for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2025, according to its filing on Thursday.

This gain resulted from settling intra-group transactions involving its subsidiaries, Panther I 2021 Holdings and Panther II 2021 Holdings, using Alibaba shares.

However, in its consolidated financial results, no gain on the sale of investment securities will be recognized.

SoftBank had previously loaned 198.6 million Alibaba shares to Panther, which were used to fulfill prepaid forward contracts with financial institutions. Upon the final settlement, these transactions will have a minor impact on Softbank's consolidated financial results.

The lender's shares closed 3% lower on Friday.
