Joby Aviation (JOBY) said Friday it has entered the final certification phase for its electric air taxi by conducting its first US Federal Aviation Administration Type Inspection Authorization testing.
Type Inspection Authorization is the final part of the certification process where FAA test pilots confirm that the aircraft meets all safety and performance requirements before it can carry paying passengers, the company said.
Joby Aviation said it plans to start TIA flight testing in 2025 with its first FAA-conforming aircraft, which is currently under construction at its Marina, California, facility.
