Furniture manufacturer La-Z-Boy said Melinda Whittington has been named to serve as chair of the Board, in addition to her duties as president and chief executive.
She succeeds Michael Lawton, who has served as chair since May 2022. Lawton will return to his previous position of independent lead director, La-Z-Boy said Monday.
Whittington served as the company's president and CEO, as well as director, since 2021. Before that, she served the company as its chief financial officer for three years.
Prior to joining La-Z-Boy, Whittington was CFO of Allscripts Healthcare Solutions, and before that served as SVP, corporate controller and chief accounting officer for Kraft Foods Group.
Whittington also currently serves on the board of Best Buy.
