Hong Kong GDP Jumps 1.8% in Real Terms in Q3

Hong Kong's overall gross domestic product rose 1.8% in real terms in the third quarter, according to preliminary chain volume figures by the city's census and statistics department released Tuesday.

GDP growth was slower compared with the 3.2% rise recorded in the second quarter, the department said.

The value added relative to all service activities rose 1.9% in Q3, slower than the 2% growth in Q2.

During the quarter, value added of the import and export, retail and wholesale trade sector grew 0.5%, faster than the 0.1% in the previous quarter.

Growth in the food and services sector fell 4.6% compared with a 6.4% decline in the previous quarter.

Growth in the transportation, storage, postal and courier services sector, as well as in the information and communications and in the financing and insurance sectors increased, the filing said.
