Honda Motor (JP:7267), $(HMC)$; Nissan Motor (JP:7201), $(NSANY)$: The Japanese carmakers said their boards had agreed to pursue merger talks, with the aim of combining in 2026. Honda also announced a share buyback. Shares of both companies rose in Tokyo.
Novo Nordisk (DK:NOVO.B), $(NVO)$: Shares of the Ozempic and Wegovy maker clawed back some of the ground they lost on Friday, when disappointing clinical-trial results wiped nearly $100 billion from the drugmaker's market value.
Eli Lilly $(LLY)$: Shares of Novo's rival rose premarket. Late on Friday, Eli Lilly said the Food and Drug Administration had approved Zepbound, another obesity drug, for some sleep-apnea patients.
News Corp $(NWSA)$: News Corp and Australian telecom company Telstra agreed to sell jointly owned Foxtel to sports streaming service DAZN Group at a value of more than $2.1 billion. (News Corp owns The Wall Street Journal.)
BNP Paribas (FR:BNP), AXA (FR:CS): French bank BNP said it had agreed to buy the investment-management arm of insurance company AXA for EUR5.1 billion, or the equivalent of $5.3 billion, a deal that will create one of the largest money managers in Europe.
