Dow Jones12-24 06:24

Shares of energy companies ticked up as natural-gas prices remained elevated.

U.S. natural-gas futures snapped a four-session winning streak in volatile trade after hitting a two-year high $3.94 per million British thermal units overnight. Gas closed down 2.4%, but remained near multiyear highs.

A survey of analysts compiled by The Wall Street Journal showed Brent crude is expected to average $71.57 a barrel next year, while West Texas Intermediate is seen at $67.44 a barrel, more or less in line with their closing prices Monday.
