Cross Country Healthcare(CCRN) Magnetar Financial disclosed a new position in the healthcare staffing firm of 1,946,934 shares. Magnetar Financial purchased 1,965,223 Cross Country shares from Oct. 18 through Dec. 18, 2024, at per share prices ranging from $9.59 to $19.95.

Magnetar offset those purchases through the sale of 26,989 Cross Country shares from Oct. 25 to Dec. 5 at $9.78 to $18.21. Magnetar is probably making an arbitrage play, as Cross Country announced on Dec. 4 that it has entered into a definitive agreement to be acquired by Aya Healthcare for $18.61 per share in cash.

Cross Country's board of directors unanimously approved the merger agreement, which is currently subject to shareholder approval at a special meeting to be scheduled as soon as practicable.

Following the latest purchases, Magnetar owns an initial 6% stake of Cross Country's outstanding stock.

Increases in Holdings

Talos Energy $(TALO)$ Carlos Slim increased his holdings in the oil-and-gas exploration-and-production firm to 43,545,604 shares. The Mexican billionaire purchased 686,700 Talos Energy shares from Sept. 25 through Sept. 27, 2024, at per share prices ranging from $10.03 to $10.55.

Following the latest purchases, Slim owns 24.2% of Talos Energy's outstanding stock. Shares of Talos have lost over a third of their value during the year.

PBF Energy (PBF) Carlos Slim increased his holdings in the petroleum refiner to 28,814,998 shares. The Mexican billionaire purchased 1,251,500 PBF Energy shares from Dec. 4 through Dec. 18, 2024, at per share prices ranging from $26.48 to $30.99.

Following the latest purchases, Slim now owns 25% of PBF Energy's outstanding stock. Shares have lost roughly 43.7% of their value this year.

Decreases in Holdings

Texas Pacific Land$(TPL)$ Horizon Kinetics reduced its stake in the oil-and-gas royalty trust to 3,578,173 shares. Horizon Kinetics did so through the sale of 47,801 Texas Pacific shares from Oct. 17 through Dec. 16, 2024, at per share prices ranging from $1,060.78 to $1,732.31. Horizon offset those sales through the purchase of 1,623 Texas Pacific shares from Oct. 17 to Dec. 16, from $1,060.92 to $1,726.45 apiece.

Following the latest activity, Horizon Kinetics continues to own 15.6% of Texas Pacific's outstanding stock. Shares have more than doubled in price during the year.

nCino$(NCNO)$ Insight Venture Partners X cut its stake in the cloud banking software provider to 4,513,467 shares. Insight did so through the sale of 5,276,534 nCino shares from Dec. 12 to Dec. 18, 2024, at prices ranging from $35.75 to $37.18 apiece.

Following the latest sales, Insight Venture Partners continues to own 3.9% of nCino's outstanding stock. Shares of nCino have remained mostly flat during the year.
