Foxconn Industrial Internet (SHA:601138) will invest 600 million yuan in a new energy battery company, Foxconn New Energy Battery (Zhengzhou), Xinhua reported Tuesday.
The computer and telecommunications equipment manufacturer will make the investment through its subsidiary, HongFuJin Precision Electronics (Zhengzhou), which will first inject capital into the unit, Foxconn Innovation Industry Development Group.
Foxconn Innovation will put the funds into the Zhengzhou company, with the total investment to be sent in phases, the report said.
Foxconn intends to establish a headquarters in Zhengzhou, the capital of China's Henan Province. About 1 billion yuan will be invested in the headquarters, which will have a construction area of 70,000 square meters.
Foxconn's shares jumped less than 3% in recent trade.
