CME Group will close its markets early Jan. 9 for the national day of mourning honoring former President Jimmy Carter.

The Chicago exchange network said Monday its agricultural and interest rate markets will close at 12:15 p.m. CT next Thursday. Its BrokerTec U.S. Repo and Treasury products will have an early close of 2:30 p.m. CT and 1:30 p.m. CT, respectively, while its cryptocurrency, energy, foreign exchange and metals markets will operate with normal trading hours.

Carter died Sunday in Plains, Ga., at the age of 100.

Earlier on Monday, the New York Stock Exchange, Nasdaq and Cboe Global Market separately said they plan to close their markets on Jan. 9 to honor Carter.
