Singapore's stock market closed lower on Tuesday, tracking overnight losses in the global market ahead of the New Year's holiday.
The Straits Times Index (STI), a key benchmark for the Singapore Exchange, ranged between 3,778.04 and 3,797.06 throughout the day. It ended the session at 3,787.60, down 8.130 points or 0.2% compared to Monday's close.
In company news, shares of Adventus Holdings (SGX:5EF) slumped over 33% after the company entered into a placement agreement with SAC Capital Private for the placement of up to 850,000,000 shares in the company's capital at an issue price of SG$0.0018 per share.
Wilmar International (SGX:F34) was up under 1% after it entered into an agreement with Adani Commodities for an option to acquire up to 403,739,517 equity shares, representing 31.06% of the paid up equity share capital of Adani Wilmar (AWL).
Meanwhile, shares of CapitaLand Ascott Trust (SGX:HMN) were down over 1% at the close after it completed the acquisition of 100% of the issued units in Victory SR Trust which owns lyf Funan Singapore.
