Hong Kong Shares End Higher, Supported by Tech and Auto Stocks -- Market Talk

0831 GMT - Hong Kong shares ended higher, supported by technology and auto stocks. Alibaba gained 1.6%, JD.com rose 1.3%, Li Auto advanced 2.3% and Geely Automobile gained 0.7%. Xiaomi Corp. jumped 6.6% to close at a record high after its EV business reported robust performance in 2024. Deutsche Bank analyst Bin Wang expects Xiaomi's EV sales to maintain its strong momentum in 2025. Pharmaceutical stocks broadly declined, with Sino Biopharmaceutical down 1.0%. The benchmark Hang Seng Index ended 0.7% higher at 19760.27, the Hang Seng Tech Index was 1.05% higher. (sherry.qin@wsj.com)
