0650 GMT - Concerns that CATL's inclusion on a U.S. list of Chinese military companies will have a material impact on its business look overdone, Morningstar analyst Vincent Sun writes in a note. While being added to the list wouldn't impose any direct sanctions or penalties, it may discourage U.S. consumers from purchasing the company's energy-storage system batteries in the future, Sun adds. Morningstar estimates that the company's battery shipment exposure to the U.S. market is in the low-teens percentage. Any potential risk will skew toward energy-storage system batteries as U.S. automakers have been cutting their reliance on CATL batteries since the implementation of the Inflation Reduction Act, which aims to strengthen domestic supply chains and reduce dependence on China, he says.
