Sonoco Products has parted ways with Robert Dillard, who had been chief financial officer of the packaging company since July 2022.

Sonoco on Monday said Jerry Cheatham, a 36-year veteran of the Hartsville, S.C., company, has stepped in as interim finance chief while it searches for a successor to Dillard, adding that it will consider internal and external candidates.

Sonoco said Dillard, who joined the company in 2018, didn't leave as a result of any disagreement related to its operations or any issues regarding its accounting policies or practices, and that he will receive separation payments and benefits under its executive-officer severance plan.

Cheatham, 62 years old, joined Sonoco in 1988 and has been vice president of global finance, industrial paper packaging, since December 2022.
