Jeff Bezos-owned The Washington Post is laying off about 4% of its workforce, affecting nearly 100 employees, multiple news outlets reported Tuesday, citing a company statement.
The layoffs will not affect the newsroom; however, business divisions such as advertising, marketing and information technology will be impacted, the company reportedly said.
Company leaders say the move is necessary to adapt to changing market conditions and reduce financial losses, adding that these changes are intended to ensure the Post's long-term sustainability, according to the media outlets.
The Washington Post did not immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
