Talos Energy said interim Chief Executive and President Joseph Mills has resigned and will leave the company after less than five months in the roles and less than a year as a board member.

The energy company on Monday said that it is in the final stages of a process to name a permanent CEO, who has already been identified. Talos expects the finalist candidate to join the company by the end of the first quarter of the year.

Mills, who joined the company as a board member in March of 2024, took over as interim CEO after longtime executive and co-founder Tim Duncan stepped down in August. He is leaving Talos to pursue other opportunities, the company said.
